FPV flying without a spotter

Published on
FPV drone flight on a mountain

If you are covered by the DMO's private drone insurance, you are allowed to fly FPV flights in Germany up to a height of 30 m without a spotter.

This is made possible by our cooperation with the DMFV e. V. association:
All our privately flying drone pilots are allowed to fly in Germany according to the rules of its association operating license. The DMO bears the costs for this!

In addition to the practice-friendly regulations for FPV flying, this also means that proof of knowledge for private flights in Germany is only required from a take-off weight of over 2 kg and/or a flight altitude of over 120 m. This applies to model aircraft. This applies to model airplanes. Drones and multicopters are generally limited to a height of 120 m, unless there is a separate permit from the responsible authorities or a corresponding ascent permit on a model airfield. In addition, we carry out the registration as a UAS operator, which is necessary for the issue of the e-ID and costs €20 at the Federal Aviation Office, via the association for only €5.

We will be happy to answer your questions by telephone on +49 202 2701770, by e-mail to info@dmodirekt.de or via our contact form.
